Lisa
Avery EET (Level One)
Taking
riding lessons from the age of seven, I was lucky enough
to have my own horse from when I was 13, worked at a couple
of yards and shared and rode various other horses until
I had finished my PhD and was working. But it was when I
took a problem horse on loan that I realised my seat was
inadequate and set out on the quest to improve it!
A
simulator course at Heather’s followed by lessons from two
Enlightened Equitation teachers (and from my rather opinionated
new mare!) not only transformed my riding but my entire
equestrian outlook and I rediscovered my riding ambition
– to become the best I can for my horse. Having completed
level one of the Enlightened Equitation Teacher Training
and continuing to train with Heather whenever possible,
I’m keen to share that knowledge and am happy to help anyone
who is interested in taking the time to learn how best to
work with their horse. I’m particularly sympathetic to those
who have lost confidence or are frustrated with not being
able to progress, having been there myself!
I’m
based in Aberdeenshire but will travel to surrounding counties
and other parts of Scotland wherever possible. I don’t have
schoolmasters at the moment, but hope this may change in
the future! I’m also a Fhoenix saddle agent and can be contacted
via the forum – username LisaNW or by email lisa@shalloch.net
or by ringing 07981 700933.

Thomas EET (Level One)
* Available for lessons in the East Midlands area.
* Will travel to you and your own horse.
* Evenings and weekends available.
* Nervous novices/loss of confidence/physical limitations
a speciality. Sympathetic training by someone who has also
previously experienced a loss of confidence.
I
have owned horses for 20 years and have ridden for 27 years.
Originally I worked at my local riding school for free rides,
then worked there for a year full time on leaving school.
I drifted away from horses for a while then bought my first
horse, a 15hh standardbred pacer who didn’t know how to
trot on diagonals. We had many an entertaining time and
I finally found a freelance instructor who improved us both.
I was taught feel, sympathy and lightness.
I
had a severe accident in August 2000 which resulted in me
being on crutches for 6 months and not riding for a year.
On returning to riding I found I could not get on strange
horses, only my old faithful standardbred. I took lessons
at a local school to overcome this, and at this point decided
there had to be something more out there.
On
finding EE and having a simulator course with Heather, I
decided I had found what I was searching for. The EET course
originally was just a journey for me but as it progressed
I realised how much it can help others too. I have over
come physical problems along the way, tight hips being the
worst issue. The crowning event for me was riding Heathers
beautiful horses including her extra wide Irish Draught
Danny who I now proudly own.
I
now own 4 horses, and am actively involved in breeding Irish
Draughts. I have competed at Riding Club level, in endurance
riding up to 40 miles and now show in-hand at County level.
I can be contacted via the forum as ‘von10’, ythomas@homecall.co.uk
