Enlightened Equitation Teacher Trainees

Caron Thatcher EETT

Caron returned to riding 8 years ago as a nervous rider, after a 22 year gap following a serious riding accident. A year later she discovered the New Rider site, Heather's fab book/video and was lucky enough to go on one of the early New Rider Seminars at Heather's farm. Caron has some BHS examinations and intends to acquire BHS instructor status. She does have a keen eye for what might be wrong/right about the horse/rider and their way of going.

Caron receives regular instruction from a trainer who, like Heather, trained with Desi Lorent and who continues to ride/train in Portugal. She has a keen interest in classical equestrianism and recognise the need for an harmonious relationship between horse and rider based on mutual respect and understanding not on force and fear. Caron is a law lecturer and qualified lawyer with a special interest in equestrian issues (although equine law is not my specialism). She currently sub-edits and writes for a local (Essex/London based) horse magazine and can be contacted via personal message on the Enlightened Equitation forum under the username "CLT".

Fiona Tyson EETT

Fiona lives near Exeter in Devon and has been riding since she was thirteen - initially as a groom at a local riding stables, then with a loaned horse and then after saving hard, buying her first horse when she was sixteen. Since then she has owned and bred a number of horses - starting all her youngsters herself and also taking on a number of 'problem horses' which she has transformed into good, family horses.

In the past few years she has become more and more involved with Icelandic Horses and, in 2007, she represented Great Britain at the World Championships for Icelandic Horses held near Eindhoven in Holland.

Fiona feels that correct classical training would see an improvement in the performance of Icelandic Horses in Great Britain and hopes, by becoming an EET, that she will be able to promote the application of Heather's training methods - not only within the Icelandic Horse circle but in the wider horse community as well.

She can be contacted as "Fiona" on the Forum or by mobile 07974 192950.
