Bay purebred Lipizzaner for sale

  • I am seriously needing to sell Remy, my 9 year old bay Lipizzaner (Pluto/Conversano lines) I imported from Hungary 6 years ago, along with Jenny's Gazdag.  I've been toying with the idea for some time but not done anything concrete about it, however last year I had a serious accident where I broke my leg in two places (nothing to do with horses!) and haven not ridden at all, and due to other health issues need to downsize my herd of six. I originally intended Remy as a replacement for my horse Pip but life has kind of got in the way and I have been riding less and less, even before the accident.  Remy would probably be more than happy to spend the rest of her life grazing but she is too talented and special to be wasted, and I would love for her to go to a home where she could realise her full potential.

I backed her myself and brought her on slowly, so is green and unspoiled.  She has been to a few classical training clinics (Heather's, Francois Lemaire de Ruffieu), and on a few hacks. She is a very friendly mare, easy to catch and good with farrier, to load, and what traffic she has seen on the roads (including lorries, tractors) she does not react at all to.  In fact I usually have to shoo her away from my tractor when poopicking!

Due to the fact she has been at pasture for a while she would need to be brought gently back into work - although she is very trainable and athletic (finds lateral work easy) I don't think it would take her long to remember stuff.  She has been spooky so not for a novice but would be a good prospect for someone perhaps looking for a classical project.  She also jumps but as I don't we haven't done much of that!  She has lived out 24/7 unrugged with no supplementary feed just grass and haylage.  She would probably be okay part-stabled (she was originally stabled for some weeks when she first arrived) but would need others around her as she has got used to a herd and is a very sociable mare.

I was originally wanting around £2950 for her which is not much different to what I paid to import her as a 3 year old, but would be negotiable if the right person came along - I would love for her to go to an EE person!

Heather knows her so she could possibly answer any questions you may have.

Its not what you do, but the way that you do it.

  • I remember seeing her at a Becky Holden clinic in Warrington not long after she had arrived.  She was and is very beautiful.  I do so hope she gets an EE home.

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it
