What's with the facebook likes?
« on: January 05, 2014, 04:48:54 PM »
If posting in society, it should be for members only shouldn't it, but these new facebook likes now link straight onto facebook.

That can't be a good thing can it?

Does it not just post a link to the topic on FB though?  (If you click on it you can only go to the forum and read the topic if you are a member)

That might be how it works, but I don't see the point in linking this site with facebook, and if it is how it works and only EE members can see it, what's the point of that when we can come on here and read it anyway?

Hi all,

There's no need to worry - as stated in General, when I set up the FB likes - nothing that's private gets seen by anyone who isn't an EE member. All that's shared is the EE icon and the login page if you're not logged into an EE Member account (or admin/moderator account with the private forum privileges). If you are logged in, it'll behave like a regular facebook like take you to the liked topic/post.

Other EE Society Members will see the links and come on here and read them, perhaps non members will be intrigued and want to join in too  ;)

I can't figure out where it goes...it doesn't seem to go to the EE FB page, as I'm pretty regular there?   :cc_confused:

When you like a topic, it shows on your timeline. You can share it from your timeline to any group/page you like, it doesn't link or publish to the EE FB page :)
