  • Not that particular one, but tried a hanging cheek french link with Rolo - we had 2 issues with it - it seemed to make him over bend, and, probably because of his chunky build, the top part was too close to his face for my liking!

Finding th eright bit is such a challenge! :)

  • We've used a hanging cheek on Chase in the past with success as he can be a bit fiddly/fussy with his mouth.

I like 16mm personally, bit narrower than normal.

  • Havent tried that brand dont know if the quality would be as good as say Neue schule?  I have an HKM saddle cloth though and it seem pretty good quality wise but the bits are quite cheap  :-\

I sell HKM bits from my trade stand at shows, and the quality of them is good. Having seen / handled a lot of NS bits, I'd say the quality is the same or the HKM bits are better  :).

  • I lie, I do know that make. My daughter rates it. I didn't make the connection between jods and bits!

  • lol Mossy neither did I until now.

In the end I got him a french link hanging cheek just becasue it was easy and local :-[  He seems happy enough in it but I will go loose ring once I have established steering entirely, at the moment the sides are helpful when things go wrong

  • If he likes the hanging cheek, why change for loose ring?

Just for ref, I can't use loose rings on either Noosa or Tonka... their fleshy cobby lips get in the way and the loose rings rub. Both have to have eggbutt or fixed cheeks of some sort.
