  • Well, he's MY favourite rider in the whole world, Trish, and has been for close on 30 years!! He had a terrible accident about three years ago though and it was thought might never ride again, so whether this has affected him now, I dont know, but he is supreme when it comes to seat and elegance, and his horses always look so happy.

  • That article is a few years old now, I printed it off when I saw it at the time! But I think is the only one I have ever seen on the Net!! Thanks for posting it again, Sarah, I havent seen it for sometime. I am pinning this thread too.

Kelly, he is the rider in the Kalman de Jurenak videos you have seen here on the EET training. I persuaded the film makers to bring it out again on DVD, and we have them in the shop, Classical Schooling, and it now contains both videos, one and two.

  • Its just a shame there doesnt seem to be any youtube footage of him we can sticky up here too!
Its the first time Ive read anything about him so I found it very interesting though.
Trish,me neither, its only mine and Heathers personal opinions that hes 'the best rider in the world' I think  :D although he is certainly held in high regard as a very talented rider.
The Kalman de Jurenak vid is excellent though, definitely my favourite dressage vid so far and I could watch him ride for hours.

  • I've only ever seen him on Heather's vid and he has stuck with me as just about the quietest rider I've ever seen, fantastic if that vid is anything to go by

  • What a great article.  I have the first Classical Schooling video and watch it again and again! (In the hope that I can ride like HHMZS by osmosis! )

... but I was a little surprised at his defense of  rollkur in the right hands!

  • I dont think he means rollkur, Jane, 'deep work 'as practised when those videos were shot, probably 12 years ago now, had never been taken to such extremes. I know that Kalman would never have approved of what is going on now.

But the first really is nowhere near as beautiful as the second film- you have to get that to really see why we consider Hans Heinrich to be the best!!
