Inspirational Riding clips.................

  • Following on from Trish's thread I thought it might be nice to have a positive thread for 'GOOD' riding  :nod:  Over the last week or so I have been searching the net for some and have a nice collection going  :D  Now not all of them are 'perfect' but they are clips that inspire and motivate me.

    Here are my favourites at the moment.  They have been shown on here before I know but not for a while and I think the quality of these clips are better than the ones I have seen previously.

    So here we have Sergej Filatow and Absent  :wub: :wub:

    and I think this must be a bit further on in training........this horse is just  :o  :wub:

    feature=related

    And here is Josef Neckermann with Asbach another really nice combination

    feature=related

    I just love Sergej and absent piaffe clip in particular, the horse is just so light and off its shoulders.

  • Its the bit of newspaper blowing under his feet and the fact that he is totally concentrating on his rider, that really impresses me too Vicki! :ohmy:

    To be critical, the piaffe is not quite correct in that his left hind is not pointing down, and is kicking out slightly behind, but SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer than anything you see in the arenas of today :(.

    Have to dash off as cooking supper, will look at the Neckermann clips later. Isnt youtube wonderful, that we now have access to such footage?

    I know!!!  Can you imagine how many horses would carry on without spooking like that!  Agreed its not technically perfect but it still gave me shivers to watch.  The harmony and lightness is just wonderful  :)

    eta: would you agree the second filatow clip is a better piaffe?  I just love the calm unhurriedness of the movement.  A lot of todays piaffes seem to be very forced,hurried and phew, thank god thats all over!  Whereas that clip is just joyous and they seem to both be quite at ease :)

  • The one of Absent with the newspaper blowing into his legs is my fave clip too.  It's still far superior to most piaffes you see today, and the concentration from the horse is what makes the clip so very special :db:

    Not that I can train a piaffe or anything like that, it's just nice to have a picture in your head of whom you would like you & your horse to emulate!

  • How can modern competitors claim to do 'dressage' in the face of work such as that second clip, and this horse not a 'genetically engineered' specimen costing millions, but an Akhal Teke, a Russian breed not generally noted for grand prix dressage.

    I have seen these clips before, but thanks for drawing our attention to them, Vicky.  I am pinning this thread so that we dont lose them again!! Simply beautiful!!

  • And another favouritr posted here before is Dr. Rainer Klimke and Ahlerich.

    NR

    I have the book about the training of Ahlerich, it is absoloutley fascinating and written in such an honest and humble way it is inspiring initself!  I wonder how many of todays top dressage people would admit their mistakes so openly but in doing so it gave the book much more meaning.

  • Thanks for the link but I think you have to bring your own horse and I don't have my own transport (yet). :)

  • Can you believe the po faced comments on the clip of Jesus Morales, by so called 'dressage riders'?  :angry:I would like to see one Grand Prix rider who could ride that hot little Hispano with reins, never mind at that speed!! :laugh:

    Thanks for that one too Vicki- I love it- ok the stallion is a little short in the neck, but he has to be so collected for work like that, and the two of them make it look so easy- stunning.

    I was lucky enough to know Reiner Klimke and saw him working Ahlerich in the flesh too.  ;)
