HI Jan,
I used to, but gave up my schoolmasters to loan homes with friends last year. Long story in many ways, but I lost my best Lipizzaner schoolmaster in a freak accident, after putting seven years of training into him. He was such a chracter, irreplaceable, and it made me take stock of a lot of things. That years was espedially bad, we lost eleven weeks work due to FMD, and my vets bills that year were over £7000. I was basically keeping horses, to take courses, to keep horses, hardly ever having time to ride.
I made the decision to find good loan homes, so that I still had jurisdiction over the horses, and did so. I bought Fantasia, my Hispano Arab the year after and got back to riding daily. He was a pain in the butt for a long time, but we now have a great partnership, and wouldn't swap him for the world!!
I am going to see if Luis will let me use the schoolmasters over there sometimes to train my teacher trainees, as they let me teach friends there now, but have no plans on gettting anymore horses, except to bring Rei home!!

Ah right- not at the moment, but no reason why I can't do one in your neck of the woods sometime- plenty of students and friends around there, more than most parts of the country!! Love to work with you and the lovely Negativ!
I have held off doing more clinics away from home this year, due to lack of time- should have been in Maine this week and Colorado next!- but with the launch of the website and treeless saddle, getting the Seatbone Saver sorted and manufactured again, etc it has been manic. I hope to get really organised for next year well ahead- erm..... Pete wouldn't let me be otherwise, which is a very good thing, actually!- so will be sorting dates for 2004 fairly soon.
Will talk about it once I get a few more things sorted.

Sorry to butt in but do you teach children? I have a 12 year-old daughter who I have been told could make a talented rider ( I know all mothers think their children are the best). She has kind of lost her way with her present teacher, who I feel is very old school. Lottie is very tall for her age but light and not very strong, her teachers attitude toward getting the horse on the bit is not one I am keen for her to learn. My abillities are very limited but I belive she could acheive a lot more if taught a different way. She has two ponies ( they are not superstars and have some problems in their own rights) and we do have transport. We are based near Newton Abbot. If you can not help personally I would appreciate it if you could possibly recommend a good instructor. Thank you.

Hi Dizzie,
I would very much like to be able to teach locally more, but time just doesn't allow. I have an excellent ex working student, Della Orchard, who is only at Liverton, who teaches freelance- email me at
heather@eclipse.co
uk for her phone number
All the best,
Heather

Sorry to butt into this thread - but do you have any ex-students/working pupils oop here in the northwest?
I have a very good instructor at the moment, but I'm all for looking at things from a different angle -particularly having read your book and having great success with your methods, and changing to a pelham (and an Easi-sit - thanks Cath!). Everybody who has seen her working (my horse that is!) lately has been very impressed with how well she's going and how relaxed she is.
Thanks very much

Erm
I think Heather wants me to build some more stables - if I get my act together and do so, we should have a 'visitors' yard at East Leigh so H can teach you on your horse. Otherwise, wait till I sell my place and buy a yard in Devon.........
Sue - Malvern and Worcs - email me on
pete@enlightenedequitation.com
and I'll talk you through some options.

Pete....I've got a better idea.....you stay where you are and move Heather up here to Worcestershire/Shropshire. Makes far more sense for her to be located centrally with good motorway access.

Sorry Tiga, but I think that considering that Heather has so many Portuguese connections, she SHOULD be based here in the country.

Heather, does this mean that you could teach me there at Luís?
