Just checked the Alexandra Kurland website - here it says in June she'll be in the UK - perhaps a good chance for all clicker fans to watch another professional at work with the clicker (Becky being the other professional most of us have seen, of course   Cheesy )?   Smiley

Oh God  Shocked   All these good things happening this year!  Clicker training, EE workshop, Spanish Riding School, Apassionata, EE Roadshow AND want to visit St Pirans Stud

Now if only I had an endless pot of money to fund my addiction <_<

I would love to see Alexandra Kurland - her book is great!

I really like Alex too, I know her personally and she is a lovely, genuine person. But for me, Becky uses CT as a tool, rather than the be all and end all of training, and it fits in better with my own training system, having seen both at work. Becky is first and foremost a horse ( and dog) trainer, secondly, a clicker trainer.

That's an interesting comment.  Having read a couple of Alexandra's books, her website etc  this is exactly the way that she describes clicker too.  Indeed there is a whole section in her first book on a variety of methods of training, when NOT to use clicker and how to integrate it with other methods to get the best results.  She even describes clicker as simply a 'tool in the toolbox'.

Now if you had made this comment about Shawn Karrasch I wouldn't have blinked Smiley wink

BTW I know it is bad form to mention other forums but people interested in clicker and\or Alexandra Kurland may like to know that a Yahoo group has just been set up by Alexandra.  I hope no one will be too offended if I post the URL http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/the_click_that_teaches/

Hi Gill,

Hope you enjoy it and am sure you will!! Viv, I agree, Alex does use the clicker under saddle in exactly the same way that Becky does, but just didnt agree with her positioning of the head with the clicker as she does with her  horses Robin in the videos. It is a false outline, and he is not working from behind. That is the only area I think in which we differ though!!
