Hi, I have just found this forum after doing clicker training on and off with my horse for the last four years. Are there any instructors in the uk that would travel to somerset. I'm looking at using clicker in our ridden work, thanks

Hi Nimms and welcome to EE.

What part of Somerset do you live? Im now based in south Devon but travel back to Manchester once a month may be i can stop off on the way. I also hold Clicker workshops the next will be on the 3/12/05 there are places left if you are interested.

Thanks Becky  Smiley

Whereabouts in Somerset are you Nimms? I haven't been able to get to either of the first level workshops with Becky as they've clashed with other unavoidable things but would really like to learn more about CT. Maybe we could work something out so Becky could combine us both on a visit?

I haven't worked on clicker the whole time. I initially used it because I lost my confidence in riding, but still wanted to do stuff with my pony. I am using it now again because I want to get him as motivated in his ridden work as he is on the ground. I use it at first to get him out of my space not snatch food etc. He will target to a cone (and from one cone to another) across the menage, he will goto and stand in a square on the floor made of poles, to the word "box". Stand on a small bridge, back up, starting western turn arounds etc. I started doing parelli, but found it a bit uncomfortable so used the clicker instead. I'm thinking of doing Ross Simpson's positive horse magic to expand our range and get more into using it in our ridden work.
