Can anyone advise me as to whether I have a suede or leather seat on my dressage saddle? I love the look of the suede seat and knees but does it wear and go shiny? would it give more stickability for a novice rider? Any comments welcome  Undecided

Personally I would always go for suede because of the increased stickability. Others dont like it for  exactly this reason. They do wear a little bit over time but this would be the same with leather as well. I think you would have to ride a lot to wear it shiny smooth.

I like leather - it's too easy to get 'stickability' in the wrong place as well as the right one!!
Also for practicality - I ride in all weathers and leather IS easier to keep. (if extra glue is needed then cord or suede seated breeches seem to do the trick for me)

I have a leather seat with a topper, effectively giving a suede seat, and if it wears out & goes shiny I can just replace the topper and not the whole saddle,  thumbs works for me  nod

Suede here too - but I do agree that leather is easier to maintain Smiley

Only just seen this.

Suede.....I used to buff my one up using a lttle nylon shoe brush, not hard to do, if your careful, used lightly, it doesn't hurt the suede.

I really do miss my suede seat. I used a HM seat saver on my dressage saddle, lovely.
