if we could see ourselves as others see us

Watched it and cried, in between saying "as if!"  V good film, thought it would be even more horrifying.  I don't think it showed the complete horror of that war.  I suppose it's a film not a documentary.  Was horrible enough though but it did show the dignity of the horse and it's generous spirit and that of some of the humans.  Also showed the inhumanity of man.  Worth a watch peeps.

I didn't like it. The constantly talking horses drove me mad (each time there was a horse in scene there was much neighing, snorting, whickering, etc), every scene with a horse in was totally implausible (the horse being trained to plough the field by being hitched up and Albert saying "Please" rolleyes ) and they managed to make the horses seem less like horses and more like very generous spirited people trapped inside horses bodies (Joey offering to pull the gun as Topthorn was injured). The war scenes were ok but on the whole, you could tell it was made by Spielberg and Disney and it didn't quite work.

Stick to the book, it's much better.

I saw it Friday night, as an animal and horsey lover it did make me cry but it is no where near as sad and horrific as I thought is would be, I went armed with a 6 pack of tissues and only opened 1 pack.  laugh

The first scene to set me off was the scene where he was sold  cry cry

There are a couple more scene that made a a few tears roll, one scene already mentioned here was the view of dead horses laying everywhere, I found that hard.

I enjoyed the film, it reminded me of Black Beauty (the version from the horses point of view with the mare called Ginger).  War horse is worth a watch but it is a film and I agree there are a few 'as if' moments but they made me smile, afterall it is a family film.

I took a couple of non-horsey friends with us, the horsey peeps all liked it but two of the non-horsey peeps thought it was a bit boring.

Just got back from seeing it and only managed a bit of a sniffle and welling up slightly. Mostly when the black horse died as reminded me of Daisy  Embarrassed and the trapped in wire bit.

Enjoyable entertainment, but slightly disappointing as all a bit errmm not sure, just slightly felt it missed the mark and could have been something really special without the speilberg Disney effect. Oh and could have done with some decent acting!

Horses were great though.

I got a bit too emotionally involved in it and was crying like a baby  laugh Read the book the next day and actually cried less than the film!
