Omar and I have been plotting behind the scenes for some time, a couple of years or so!- to try to get some EE dressage tests underway. The biggest problem had been getting them judged countrywide, and so it had been shelved for a while.

But with the likes of Interdressage being successful, we intend to do online equitation tests, we prefer not to use the title 'classical' as it can still sound too elitist for some riders, but the word 'equitation' can also encompass in hand tests, for instance, which we also intend to include.

It will take a while to set up, but I hope it is something else we can offer through the website. Video lessons have often been suggested but few have shown real interest, but maybe a test, which is short, and can be commented on in a way which would give suggestions for improvement as well as a mark and comment, we hope might be popular, especially as so many riders are strapped for cash and not travelling to many shows.

So what do you all think? Would members be interested in this? We would throw it open to all, not just to members but need to train up other judges than Omar and myself. Obvious candidates are EE teachers, so any of you teachers out there if you are interested, do give me a shout!

Long reining would be ace as a standard test. I've wanted to start it as a competition for years - dressage on the ground and big people can use little ponies! I remember talking to Syliva Stanier about it, and we agreed that cavessons only - at least, no bits - should be used at novice levels.

Yes, perfect.

I have watched the inter dressage video's, with the other folks tests, and I have to say the variations in standard of judging takes some getting used to!.. Also the comments some people have had, makes me wonder at the way the comments and recommendations have been interpreted.
To tell an owner that their baby [ just 4 ] horse needed to be worked on tight 10 mtr circles....is ummm rather foolish.

I would have a go at long reining test, or anything really. I think its a great idea. BUT are the members who are already unwilling to be seen, or are less skilled than some, or who have no facilities, or access to a trainer, going to take part?? I would hope so.
It doesn't bother me, i'm perfectly happy to be critiqued.

Perhaps there needs to be a softly softly approach.

You need to design the tests to take advantage of your ground.  devil That would be quite fun in itself - getting peoples' working environments and trying to design tests that were do-able in the available environs.

Ridge and furrow might be a challenge  laugh

Our challenge would be to find an area that isn't 3 feet under water at the moment  ouch

thumbs I've seen this mentioned before Heather and YES would love to play. I have already had a go at a couple of horsemanship classes on interdressage and there are some classes for long reining, in-hand etc but not usually every month and they are judged by a non BD person  thumbs. I'm not keen on being judged and commented on in a regular BD style test because I just wouldn't agree with most of it so it wouldn't be a help but EE judging I'm sure I'd be much happier with  thumbs bring it on. Guess this means I'll HAVE to renew  laugh
