For those of you that don't know, Josh is a rescue springer who came in to my life over 2 years ago - he was at least 10 to 12 kilos overweight when I got him and was clearly used to using his bulk to his advantage. He is now a normal weight for his size, but still goes through things rather than round them, and is generally an oaf. rolleyes

I have learned to live with him leaving a trail of devastation in his wake!

But, he excelled himself today.

I have just sold my chin cage on Ebay - they came to pick it up, so I asked if they could come to the back gate so I could shut the dogs out of the way. So I shut the dogs behind the dog gate - as I have done 100s of times before.
I opened the back gate to let Ebay people in, then what I can only describe as a cacophony of noise erupted from the kitchen, including smashing crockery, and general pandemonium, at the end of which Josh smashed through the dog flap. To cut a long story short, I eventually manhandled him back indoors, and shut him in the lounge , behind the kitchen door. Poor people carried the cage to their car, probably thinking that I was some sort of dog beater, as Josh was refusing point blank to go back in Embarrassed Although they did say they had 2 dogs so had some sympathy.

When I went back in I was able to work out what had happened - Josh had smashed  his way through the dog gate, got his head stuck though it then run through the kitchen with the dog gate attached, knocking everything on the draining board either over or off, tipping his (full) water bowl over, causing general chaos and breaking the end of the dog gate! It was devastation!

I was so cross I couldn't be in the same room as him Smiley Can sort of see the funny side now - sort of Smiley

My sis used to breed working Springers so I'm a fan anyway, but there are two down at the yard, and although Barney's quite sane, Zac would be absolutely lethal if he had any brains  laugh I sympathise  rolleyes

Well he didn't do things by halves did he  laugh.  I kind of sympathise as I have two Australian cattle dogs who are very high energy (well one has slowed down a tad as she ages!) - definitely not your quiet house dogs  rolleyes

Latest thing to be Joshed? The dog flap!

My friend has given me this lovely heavy duty dog flap - she bought a job lot from the states. I finally picked it up yesterday, so took a half days leave today to see how feasible it would be to put new one in the current hole.

So with my sensible head on, I decided that I would carefully remove the current one, so that  I could just pop it back in if it would be too difficult to put the new one in. Good plan. Smiley

So, all screws taken out, so that all it needed was a bit of a shove to get it out. I decided to stand up and give my back a breather. Mistake.

At that exact moment the washing machine went in to spin, for some unknown reason this meant Josh felt the need to depart at speed - through the dog flap - which as it was not fixed, smashed to bits as it hit the patio. I did not say a word. Josh knew there was the potential for him to be in a spot of bother, so stood at the bottom of the garden looking as if I beat him on a regular basis rolleyes

Not all his fault I know, but why is it always Josh? laugh

So, after a right palaver that took flippin hours, the new dog flap is in - and both dogs are scared of it. rolleyes laugh It is also almost as draughty as the old one as I was unable to fit it correctly - but it is not as draughty as a hole, which was the only remaining alternative! Smiley
