Lots of mouthwashes contain chlorhexidine gluconate... which is the active ingredient in Hibiscrub.

But the hooves would certainly smell nicer with the mouthwash  Cheesy

Was it not a bit stingy on the sore bits?

If it is, it should work on fungal and some bacterial problems in hooves - I think there are some types of bacteria it doesn't kill, but maybe a microbiologist could step in and tell us  Smiley

I'm a firm believer in finding out active ingredients and then shopping around (VO5 do a leave in hair conditioner with exactly the same ingredients as Cowboy Magic detangler, at a fraction of the price  wink).

Chlorhexidine will kill thrush nicely but it's also quite an aggressive agent and will potentially damage the healthy horn as well at a microscopic level - especially with regular use. The bacteria that cause thrush feed on damaged horn, so using overly strong disinfectants can be counterproductive - the moment you stop using them, the infection tends to come back with a vengance.
