Cobs can (try...)

« on: August 01, 2011, 04:05:12 PM »

I'm positive I've asked this before, but I couldn't find anything  whistle

Since I'm going to starting working with Pinto from scratch again, I though I would just talke a look at everything and make sure it is the best I can.

For those who don't know... a potted history  whistle

6 years ago Pinto came to me with a full cheek snaffle, which was quickly changed to a full cheek french link, which was changed to a hanging cheek, then we went bitless for a year, then we went back to a bit a Neue Schule hanging cheek, then we changed to a loose ring single jointed snaffle for a while (to humour my instructor - I knew best and we both hated it).  Most recently I've been riding with a Myler copy, a Western D with copper inserts, but once again Pinto is fussing.  the vet had a look at his teeth and proclaimed they weren't bad, but he would give them a quick once over when he comes back in 2 weeks.

I would have preferred to go back to the NS bit, except it has gone walk about, and now I'm not so sure if I should replace it, or try something a bit simplet like a NS verbindend/starter or team up bit.

Does anyone have any experience with these bits, or any other words of wisdom to impart?

Thanks Smiley

Are all those bits you've tried jointed? Not sure about the NS hanging cheek but assume it is?

Nearly all of the bits we've tried have been double jointed, either french link, or lozenge.  A single joint just isn't worth trying half of the thime, givn that Pinto has quite a low palate and a huge tongue  rolleyes
