I really like the look of baroque style saddles. they look immensely practical with the front and back support and designed to let the leg hang in a good position. But is there anyone competant who sells / fits them in S/W/Mid UK? Is it a silly idea?

They look wonderful, and what better sort of saddle to have when schooling a silly horse.
Im sure that if they were more widely available and better understood, more people would have them for all sorts of breeds.

Am I right in gathering they are NOT easy to rise to the trot in? I'm sure I remember seeing people writing about that? Maybe I'm imagining things?!

Not that it would mean they were a silly idea, if I am remembering right; just something to take into account?

I think they look fab, def not a silly idea.   I did seriously consider an Australian stock saddle when I backed Jinx as they look so secure as well.

Yer, they look great too.  Also considered that myself or even a western having ridden in one last week..that was really nice.

Wendy didnt Heather say she would be doing a baroque saddle when her other line comes out?

ETA: check out this link Wendy for some reasonably priced spanish saddles:  and barefoot also have a nice spanish saddle maybe worth considering.

rising trot depends on the seat size and the gallery sizes. one of mine is easy, one of mine is snug cry.

they don't feel secure as such as most baroque saddles have a fairly flat open seat so you can move your seat position. think if you had to use the galleries to stay on you'd have tears in your eyes before you hit the deck!! Psychologically of course they do look more secure so that's half the issue gone nod

I bought Ludomar Potrera. I once sat in one in Portugal and felt it very comfortable.
Yes posting is possible but I feel a little discomfort  in the way I do rising in trot in spite of the shorter front galere. Got it pretty cheap from Ebay and it is now too wide for my horse: The Germans often tell M cc_confused when the saddle as a matter of fact  is Wide (I found out afterwards). I would have had to ask for inches/cm doh. Ludomar has now a very nice looking new model: VENUS  (Hidalgo is not the "cheapest place" to buy - how ever test saddles are availble).
