I have just started teaching at a local riding school and the owners have asked if i could work with their young lippizzaner foal.

What kind of things can i do at this age?

I am thinking the following:

haltering
Touching all over
Lifting feet
polite leading in school and out once established.
Moving the front and back end away etc.

These people havent got a clue and asked me to teach her to lunge  Shocked   wallbash

Can anyone give me some other ideas and a guideline as to what i can do with this foal?

Yep, all these, baby horses are so lovely.

And show it the world now before it gets much bigger and stronger.

I used to push a pram about, drag tin cans on a string, introducing hazzards that they meet in the world.
So dogs, children* [ *most scary of all ] tractors and other heavy machinery.
I used to take willi for walks round the village, to the bakery, past the local school, especially past the football fields. Everything was positive as he was always going to be a ride and drive, so as much we could introduce him to was good.

your so lucky, I would love to start another youngster.

I know...they would ride her if they could  Shocked ouch

Anyway, first session today went well:

Haltered and touched all over with hand and then whip.
Practiced leading and stopping and respecting space.
Yielding front and back ends.
Backing a few steps.
Picked up all 4 feet.
Lots of rewards in between.

She is absolutely lovely........must get pictures next time.

I did explain she cant lunge yet and why and i think they understood.
