 cry cry cry cry

My beautiful Swedish Blue and Appleyard x Indian runner ducks are no longer with me  cry . They had reached the grand old age of 11/12 and were supposed to go to sleep peacefully and not wake up - it didn't happen.

Last night, for the first time in 8 years, a fox scaled our 6' high fence and took my girls lives, they were close to each other when I found them. I only hope it was quick.......

As you can see my girls thoroughly enjoyed their ensuite facilities, they are now laying in peace in the patch of gound infront of it  cry cry cry

Goodnight lovely old ladies I shall miss your cheery outlook to life xx.

So sorry - actually it may have been a blessing in dusguise, since it probably was very quick, and old age itself can bring all sorts of problems. At least you didn't have to watch them go downhill slowly. And they both went together.  hug hug hug

hug Thanks all, don't feel quite so sad today.

I'm glad in a way it did take them both, they had been together 10 years (with some others who I lost along the way). If one was left I'd have had to seriously consider pts as I think they may have pined away....

They were suprisingly fit and healthy for ladies of over 100 years old (in human/duck years):, spending most of the day sloshing round in their bath. We had a few token eggs every now and again, infact we had our last duck egg ommellette on Monday  cry .

When I dig the garden who shall have the worms now - their favourite treat! All I had to do was shout 'wormies girlies' and they would run to get them  cry . They'd join us for a BBQ coming right up to us, or cheekily quacking and staring through the patio door to get attention if we were inside.

They certainly brightened up my day on many a time, always cheerful and happy....
