Hiya

Got some vid today of the polework I was talking about - however, I was slightly too far out and forgot to choose HD, doh!!

I've posted it here as its really ct and Alex-inspired rather than classical and its not everyone's idea of what they're striving for.

Excellent!  Thank you so much for posting this.  I'll have to try the exercises with Comet (if he can stay calm enough!!) as he really, really needs the back strengthening and lifting via the abdominals. Although I think that the under saddle work we're doing these days is really helping.

I think that slowly and gently is the way to go, rather than what I consider the rather violent methods of the physios, although a quick tuck might help liberate something -- I'm not sure what their goal is when they do that.  One of my chiropractors advised me to gently rub the underbelly with your fingers -- for a longer time, rather than short and sharp -- and that's where I came up with the "manure fork lift".  And for the butt, rub fairly firmly with a stiff mane comb/brush, then they can hold it for a bit and get used to increasing pressure.

Know what you mean about the violent reflex responses - Hylo hates it when the physio does these and is very dramatic about it!  I suppose as you say it might release something or perhaps show what range of flexibility the horse has.

Oh I love this! I have to watch it some more because there is so much going on.

I loved the way she got all Prancey in her walk as she came around the pole at 39 seconds!!

I might come back after I've watched it some more with some more questions...

Thanks for posting!!  thumbs thumbs

Thanks guys - Lyndsey he LOVES groundwork!!  Cheesy  He does indeed get all prancy and excited, particularly when doing movements such as the hip shoulder shoulder and any form of engagement or disengagement.  The close work in a figure of 8 is another one that has become a firm favourite - I think stems from the cone work we did with Alex.

Its useful for me to watch, too!

Please do ask more questions, its helpful for me to think about what I'm trying to achieve!
