I suppose if horsey is used to doing ground work with you i.e. where he stays with you, then following you around seems to him to be what you want. Sooooo possibly you would need to adopt clearly different body language for the free schooling so that he gets to understand that it is different and that you want him to stay away from you?? just a thought....
