Yes, I think it came up in a discussion about horses in films more generally, and someone was talking about the horses from the Pen Llyn stud being used in, I think, Robin Hood? I could be getting confused with somewhere else! (I've had it bookmarked on my drool list since ) Otherwise, depending on what you're looking for, I know that someone on the forum recommended this place - again my memory's slightly hazy as to what the specific context was. I think they had lessons there?? http://www.gilfachequitation.co.uk/(But it's another place on my list)

Pen Llyn Lusitanos is situated on the Llyn Peninsula. It is the peninsula which juts out into the Irish Sea in North West Wales. It is a particularly beautiful part of the country and not far from either the north or south coasts of the peninsula.
I live about 40 miles away and have had occasional lessons on their Lusitano stallions. However I have not been for a while and even when I was going could not really afford to go often, so it was more of a treat rather than being able to build on the lessons as you can when you go regularly or have several lessons in a row as you might on holiday. But it really was a treat to ride their stallions.
It is owned by Janine Pendlebury. I understand she trains fairly regularly in Portugal but I do not know with whom.
The best person on this forum to ask about them would be Richard Vialls (rvialls) as I know he used to ride there regularly.
Hope that helps

Well it happened, I went on the Horseboy training at PenLlyn last week and had a fantastic couple of days, Lusitano overload! I can understand why everyone is so in love with them! I didn't get to ride as we were really busy with the course, and Jan was run off her feet, a lovely lady, very down to earth. I'm hopeless at posting photos but if you would like to friend me on FB - Lesley Harvey, (intouch equestrian) and don't mind scrolling down all the rubbish on my profile, there are 2 albums with a fotofest of horses and trick training.

I am really glad it worked out for you, and that you had such a good time.
I am going along as a spectator in a couple of weeks time as they have a Portuguese trainer doing a weekend clinic. Lots of drooling over their beautiful Lusitano boys.

Someone I met on the EETT course works at Pen Llyn place. Her name is Danni - Georgie girl on here - maybe you could PM her and get the low down on the place. I have to be honest that I have seen a clip showing the owner Janine riding a gorgeous horse - and it was some of the worst riding I have ever seen.

There are 2 J Pendlebury; Justine and Janine. Janine runs the Pen Lleyn Lusitano Stud and her sister Justine another establishment a few miles away. Understandably sometimes people get the 2 mixed up, and I think their training styles are different.
Inspired by your experience Intouch, I may well be doing the same/or similar course in July. So thanks for that.
