nope, but those are very wise words!
I'm guessing the main problem is the utter lack of trust people have on their horses and vice-versa, no matter what they think/say.
Every sunday I marvel at my cousin and her stallion because of this exactly! in the short span of a year they have evolved from her afraid of his every reaction to me having to tell her she needs to get a horn on her saddle if she's to keep not holding the reins cos they might slide down his neck and make'em both trip and lend on their noses! be it walk trot or gallop, the reins are unsused, the legs barely so.
In the school some aids are needed for this or that exercise and yet she trusts her horse will do better on his own than with her interference and truth be told, he's been improving! slowly, no rush, but improving! a horse that would utterly refuse to trot or canter to one lead now does it all without any complaint simply because noone's forcing him anymore! the tension's gone and with it goes the stiffness.
we all like to control yes, but only if we are insecure! if you trust someone, you'll gladly accept their help on something or even let them do it by themselves and take the chance to do something else! if not, you'll either correct their every move or eventually give up and do it yourself! that's what I see in riding school these days! they try with all their might to turn the horse into a puppet on strings so that they can do it all themselves!

...why ride a horse at all really? why not a bike? or their own 2 feet? what's the purpose of riding a creature with it's own brain and will if what you really whant is a brainess all terrain vehicle?
