I have found that with my two (well, one and potential other one  Lips Sealed) Honey is very focussed on the target and will walk quite a long way to touch it; we play 'almost fetch', where I throw the target (a lid off a supplement tub) and she goes after it and touches it. Pip, on the other hand, finds targetting quite boring and won't play almost fetch at all. He prefers to do proper things like putting his headcollar on and learning to walk from pressure where a riders legs would be and putting his bridle on.

I tend to have a handful of mixed nuts and rosehips in my pocket - Hon likes the rosehips while Pip prefers the nuts! For special treats when we're doing something difficult (like shoulder in for Honey - she can't get her head round the fact that her legs don't always have to follow her nose!) I use chopped up apple.
