Yes agreed Nettie, wise words of Heather's but that's just it and what concerns me most, not everyone (by a long way) is as wise as her and I'm not sure they always have the ability to judge what's right or ethical. Sometimes I think it would be wiser to look at the horse in front of you and work it out for yourself, it isn't rocket science but there is a great deal of pressure put on us ordinary riders/trainers to have 'credentials' and the odg's seem often to be used by some in this way

and often they seem just to pick out the bits they like

I think reading books backed up with bucketloads of practical work is good but I'm not sure that wading through Cavendish will be any help at all to me

I guess it's all just an evolutionary process.
