It is five whole years today since I had to say goodbye to my dearest friend, Ricky.
After over twelve wonderful years together he developed colic early one December morning but even with the best vetinary care, as the sun was setting that same day, we had to make the painful decision to let him go. He was in his mid twenties.
I don't know a great deal about his history before he came to me, he was believed to be a ConnemaraxTB, but he looked more like a TB than anything else, but he had that sweet, kind temperment combined with a streak of cheekiness typical of the Connie, though not quite a cheeky as Ronan. He was a talented little horse, who could have progressed a lot higher than the Novice Level we achieved with a better rider. After his death, this knowledge pushed me on to search for a better way to ride and train so that he would have a legacy. This search lead me to EE but still plugging away at improvement.
After all this time still miss you and think of you often xxx I hope there are Extra Strong Mints in Horse Heaven, but don't eat too many at once.
