Becky's First Ct Workshop

Well I think I can say that Becky's first CT workshop here was a great success! Everyone went away inspired by her enthusiasm and obvious rapport with our horses. I am very pleased to have Becky working with me here- we are so much on the same wavelength and that is such a rarity to find someone with whom one agrees on every aspect of training.
Well done Becky, who admitted to being nervous, but I knew once she got started, there would be no stopping her, and I was of course, quite right!!
Great to see Whispers Mum- Helen- all the way from Worcs, and thanks to Kim ( Cremello) and Elaine ( Mrs Murchin) for staying after the 2 day workshop, and now having to drive all the way back to East Anglia tonight. Good to see other forum members here from N Devon and deepest Cornwall.

Many thanks to Becky (and Heather) for a wonderful day. It cleared up many of the questions I was left with after reading the horse clicker training books (have only trained dogs, rats and ferrets with clicker before). The demonstrations were inspiring and clearly showed the aim and result and, most importantly, how to deal with a behaviour that was not requested in a way that didn't dampen the horses desire to try and gain the click. In hand work went so much further than I had expected and should give me and the horses some interesting half hours while the winter evenings are so short.
Heather, your stallions are all such delightful persons who were not afraid to show their true, generous personalities and their sense of humour,
just where are you going to hide the carrot bucket next time!!!
Look forward to the next installment once we have practiced for a while and second the proposal for a clicker section on the forum

Well, I had better talk to Nix about adding a CT forum then folks! Glad you all enjoyed the day- your encouragement will I know mean a lot to Becky, who has mostly done one to one lessons and not talked to a group, but I knew she would be absolutely fine!
And as for my 'boys'- cheeky monkies arent they? My aim has always been to allow their individual characters to grow with confidence and express themselves- whilst still knowing the boundaries of discipline. This is so essential with stallions especially, but why I love working with them, they must respect you, but also once they really give their affection to you, it is a special bond.

Thanks from me, too, to Becky and Heather. I was a bit dubious about starting something like CT with Merly, because like all horses he's very quick to latch onto something that involves food :( , and because I'm very conscious of the fact that I'm a complete pushover I could quite see out rides deteriorating into a series of click/treat, stop/start hiccups that would end up costing me a fortune in Hilton Herballs without actually achieving much
However, yesterday made me see how to do it without that happening, and now I'm rather looking forward to getting started. Merly and I have been very limited in what we've been able to do together over the last couple of years, and I'm afraid to say he's become a bit bored and a bit stale for lack of excitement lately. But he's at a new yard now where we can do far more together, and I think CT is going to be just the thing to brighten him up

Thank you Becky and Heather for another wonderful day, I always come away feeling inspired and barely notice the drive back. It's just aswell I don't live closer or I'd be impossible to keep away!!!
I'm going to do my first clicker session with Whisper this afternoon and if that goes well I'll start with Spirit. Poor Whisper has to suffer the indignity of being my guinea pig whenever I try anything new!!
The horses looked wonderful (well done Terri too) and were so happy in their work. I can't wait for the next course and I also think a clicker forum would be fab.
Thanks again.

Thank you both!
A very enjoyable day! It's always good to learn something new and meet new people.
Unfortunately, I had to shoot off because I'd promised the hubby I'd go watch a Pink Floyd tribute band with him... (They we're very good).... And Flashback did a bit with my girl when she brought her in for me.
Della came this morning to do her stuff, and a friend came up with her son. He found the clicker....
You should of seen her face!! I nearly fell on the floor laughing  'Oo Oo.. gimme sweets'!
Will try my hand tonight... house work calls

Me and Ebby loved it - especially when it 'clicked' and she had her own vending machine.....

Mum and I just wanted to say thanks for an interesting and inspirational day! the clicker training day has really refreshed our enthusiasm for Clicker training and cleared up alot of points we were a bit fuzzy on! We are aiming to re-introduce the clicker to all of our horses - hopefully with our new found knowledge we will be able to achieve more than having a horse that picks up grooming brushes!
For anyone who hasn't ever thought of using the Clicker as a means of training their horse, stimulating it's mind and strengthening the bond you share, I would urge you to get yourself booked onto one of Becky's training days. Becky is a really good teacher and so enthusiastic in what she does - it really was ajoy to watch. The method of training is totally rewarding and the possibilities are endless!!
(Charlie, Mums puppy got his first clicker session this morning - I think he's going to like it!)
thanks again!

Great to see you both again, Rebekah and Val. I love the totally positive attitude that CT engenders in the trainer. I also loved Kim's story about how her horse ended up training HER, until she cottoned on!!

Many thanks to Becky and Heather for a wonderful day. Becky's obvious passion and clear love of the tool was evident, the way she interacted and spoke with the horses was a joy to watch. It was great to watch what could be done with CT, you don't get that from the books. The demonstrations were inspiring and helped me form a clearer program for mine, like not letting them train me.
I have to say Heather I think you've found a gem in Becky, pity you can't bottle her enthusiasum and bubbly personality and sell it.
The horses were wonderful as well.
If I was nearer I'd be booking some hands on training
