Have been riding my horse in a stainless mullen mouth pelham for a wee while now, she goes well in it but decided to try a rubber covered one today.  Would have started with one of these but thought it would be too thick for her mouth.  She seemed to like it and as it is a bit softer I would quite like to use one.
Does anyone know if there is any make of these that is a little slimmer as it is a bit thick for her little mouth.  Are the Happy Mouth ones similar at all????? Or do they have a totally different feel for the horse?  Have never seen one in the flesh.

Also not for now but was wondering about kimblewicks for the future, do they have a similar action?? was thinking for maybe jumping in the future or any time where one rein would be a bit easier.

Thanks  Smiley

I ride Bea in a Happy Mouth pelham and he's very happy with it.  The rubber/vulcanite seem too big for his mouth and he hated the metal one I tried.  The width of the happy mouthpiece seems to fall between the rubber and the metal.   If I want to dressage or not use two reins I have a happy mouth loose ring straight bar snaffle that he's comfy in too.   I do use two reins for jumping though because this is his favourite thing and he can get strong when he's in the mood - I can steady him up and focus his brain better between jumps with two reins and then release the curb when he's settled.
