If you havent discovered the German magazine Piaffe, owned and produced by Anja Beran and Gerd Heuschmann's publisher, Isabella Sonntag, then go look at the new website.

I know Isabella and she sends me the bi monthly mag in hard copy, but I have moaned constantly that some of the articles were just a short precis in English.

Well now, all the articles can be read in PDF in excellent English on the new website.

This is the current issue, and as always some very good articles of real interest to the serious rider. thumbs thumbs

good! maybe a fully printed english version will come out soon! Them germans, who speaks german anyway? LOL! problem is, nearly all my fave horse people are german... let's see, Philippe Karl(LOVE the accent  laugh ), Anja Beran, Klaus Hempfling, just to state a few... Isn't it curious that they're all from the same country where the other extreme of riding method originates?...

Philippe Karl is French, not German, isnt he? Undecided

He's stated as German though he studied in France and the name Philippe is also french... Karl is German but that don't mean anythin these days...

think you may be wrong about that?

http://www.philippe-karl.com/422/English/Philippe_Karl.html

I find it odd he would go to france for first job with horses if he was german?

yeah, I read it, doesn't say anything bout where he was born though. But also read he was german on a portuguese site. Anyway, offtopic so doesn't matter.
I do wish they stoped writting important stuff in german, I mean, noone speaks german appart from germans themselves and some adjacent countries! the whole remainder of the world speaks English and Spanish for Christ's sake! actually Mandarin rules over but only cos their country has more people.  doh

What a ridiculous statement. It's a German magazine written for the German speaking market for goodness sake. So if you want to read it either learn the language or wait for an English translation.

as far as I know, Anja Beran at least wishes to spread the word to every interested rider, not just the german market. It's quite strange this concept of limiting markets. These days everything tends to be as international as possible, that's why I think it's strange they didn't start with an english version right at first. It's probably the Editor's choice, not the authors. In any case, I learnt 3 languages apart from my own very well and unfortunately don't have time to learn more, so cool down, I'm complaining about their choice, not yours, or are you a part of the editorial? I will actually send the suggestion myself to add to many more they probably have received! a magazin of this quality and content, especially on the critical times that go by would be a great asset if launched internationaly. Are we or are we not aiming for the wellfare of the horse and equestrian art? How many magazines do you know that do this? shouldn't these few reach as far around the world as they possibly can?

...my opinion only...

Philippe is most definitely French! A friend of mine studied under him at Saumur. Philippe Karl does not speak German, which is why he speaks English on all his DVDs including the head to head one with Christoph Hess, filmed in Germany, where both speak English, but it has a German voiceover for the German market, because he doesnt speak the language.

Oddly, his wife is Bea Borelle- a German first name and French surname, but she IS German!
