There was a thread on this recently - can't for the life of me remember what the title was though - oh lunging cavesson...here it is
http://www.enlightenedequitation.com/ee/boards/index.php/topic,41244.0.html
W&B has some really good pictures of Jinx modelling all the variations on her blog. I'm deliberating whether to get one for Daisy next year instead of a lunging cavesson, luckily a friend has just brought one and she will let me have a play with it I'm sure.

Ooh, I might have to go and check that out - I am not a facebook addict and even though I have an account I only go in their every couple of months
Many thanks for the link too, will take a look at that.

I use one on Jensen and find it very versatile for young horses. Was a little disappointed at the quality of the leather though....

We've got a couple, they work better than a standard Icelandic bridle and drop noseband as the noseband sits higher up the face.
I have tried the bitless options with Jörð, option 1 (reins on the noseband) was OK when I tried it as an experiment to see if I could re-introduce a bit (unfortunately the experiment failed as she would still cross her jaw and stick her tongue out in tölt even when the snaffle reins were hanging in loops
). Option 2 was OK too (scawbrigg) although she was less round than in her hackamore. Option 3 (Cross-under) I didn't like, but then I didn't like a Dr Cook when I tried one either (I didn't feel either bridle released properly) so there's no great surprise there.
I was a bit disappointed with the leather quality too - it's beautifully made but the leather is that dyed stuff, not English. I'm not sure if the competition bridle is nicer leather? As we use both of ours with a bit we would be just as well with those to be honest
Pony size fits our Icelandics, they are let down quite a long way but they don't seem to make cob size
At least, I've not seen cob size on ebay.

I love it but agree the leather isnt great but they are very well made otherwise. Jinx's is a Small horse size which I think is the same as cob size, she is 15.1hh ish and quite a small face.
I asked for Standard horse when I bought it and didnt realise they had given me the wrong size but luckily it fitted anyway.

Thanks guys, I am watching a pony size one on ebay at the moment!
Fiona, can you tell me whether you think the pony size would suit a large icelandic head???? Robert tends to take a pony size bridle, Rodi a cob and Ljuf is on the upper limit of cob and this would be for him.

Hmm, depends how big I guess
It fits Omar and he's about 14hh and quite stocky.
If it didn't fit Ljufur you could always use it on one of the others

Standard horse size arrived!
but it looks p-r-e-t-t-y small around the snozzle, but he's only 15-ish hands, and hasn't got a crazily out of proportion noggin, oh well moment of truth approaches!

Pah. It's a
small
horse, and though only a nipper and 15+ a bit hands it's on the last hole all round. Looks fab and very secure but back in the post it goes to be exchanged for standard horsey size. But I think we have a winner!
By the way, I don't know if its apparent to everyone else but the competition one can also be used as a sidepull - the bit straps attach to rings as with the multibridle, I didn't realise that until I spoke to nice girly at the shop.
