Think someone has started to listen about stirrup bars!

A client just bought a bates caprilli dressage saddle and the stirrup bars are amazing in the right place for a change I was trying to get her to go either wow or hm saddle. I have also some clients with cardinal saddles with adjustable stirrup bars and guess what they are moved right to the back of the bar.

Why did throughgood not keep going with the bars further back after heathers one?

Hallelujah!!!!  It is one of my 'things' at the moment.  I've been riding for ages in a Saddle Company saddle and was constantly fighting against the position it put me in.  I then saw some photos of me riding and was horrified my lower leg was so far forward and of course the rest of my body was not in a good position either.  I know I certainly can't blame it all on the saddle and alot of it was down to my crap riding, but lets just say the saddle didn't help.  I definitely had a better position in my WOW VSD which I had to sell as horse didn't like the Flair flocking in the end.  Now have an Ideal Suzannah and find it much easier to sit in a better position because the stirrups bars are further back, have a lot of work to do though to be a better rider! LOL!

Yes, they should do Chrissie. I designed a saddle for Bates, in fact they bought the very Barrie Swain saddle on my then website to take apart in the workshop to take patterns etc. My design of course, had the set back bars. Unbeknown to me, they had been taking prototypes to Isabel Werth to try, and she found the bars being set back, so much easier to ride with.

Suffice it to say that after nearly 4 years, my saddle design was dumped, and the Isabel appeared a few weeks later, with a lot of the features that I had provided. I do not believe she knew of my involvement. But suffice it also to say, I was not paid a penny. That is why I went to TG to work with them on the HM Griffin.

They stopped making it because the company owner said that you had to learn to ride 'my way' or you couldnt ride on them. Erm, I have never claimed the ear/shoulder/hip/heel line as my own!! cc_confused I now think people, as with my other saddles, need to realise that they must not inadvertently try to hold the leather back at an angle as they have to do with other saddles. The TG would have tipped them on their fork had they done this.

Great shame as it was a good saddle at a great price sad

Oh that's naughty Heather  sad, what a shame for them to treat you like that.    Although glad from a selfish point of view, glad you got involved somewhere along the line, as I have found the set back bars a huge help  Smiley

I am going to talk to Shires about it as they have the manufacturing possibilities, Angela. I am at my wits end as to what to do about the bridle. I have heard nothing back from the new manufacturers in over 2 months. What the hell is it with these companies? I have been trying to get my bridle made now for 5 years. I have ideas for a new bitless, but will I ever manage to get it made?

I am going to have to go outside the UK - have tried to keep all my products British, and they will be made always from British/Italian leather, but I am having to look elsewhere for reliable manufacture. Lord knows whether I would ever get a synthetic saddle into production! sad wallbash

There are a lot of very skilled craftsmen out there from outside of the UK, who are using good materials, some in countries that you wouldn't even consider, but i am sure they could help you.  Shires would be good though.  Hope something comes off for you.  I think alot of reputable companies are getting there stuff manufactured in Eastern countries  whistle

I am sorry to hear that Heather about the IW saddle and your design  sad but I have recently bought an IW wintec and have to say, I love it, its a really good saddle  Embarrassed

I sold my Fhoenix as I just couldnt get my balance and the fit just right  sad  I am gutted about the Fhoenix but wouldnt have a dressage saddle without set back bars now though  wink  I still use my HM seat saver and stirrups, they are both fantastic products  thumbs

Would be great if you could get a new synthetic saddle on the market  nod

Hope you can get your bridle sorted also  hug

Heather

What about British bridle works I know they made bridles for a friend that used to own Kate Negus saddlery I have a couple of their bridles and they are nice leather work I bought their first sample in fact the bridle ollie had on. It's a pity jeffries couldn't put their finger out as I love their traditional leather work I still have a 25 year old jeffries bridle and it still great.

I like the shires hi lite synthetic but they could do with bars further back the self adjust gullet works quite well too.
