Ash-yes thats very true about the racing industry and imo its the only good thing to come of it.
But yes it is true that these days we have so many more answers to why horses may be 'misbehaving' when years ago they would have just been deemed naughty.
As for the riding,for sure, frustration and the desire to be better for our horses sake is a good thing and we can only ever do our best.

There are those pictures now but how about bearing reins, birching with gorse poles, medieval bits etc, and those were when folks relied on horses for their living. Throughout history there have been those who use and abuse, and those who listen.
