yes video is no longer available, might be they thought it was too incrimanating to leave the bloomin thing on line.

Poor poor horse. But there are thousands of horses out there who are suffering at the hands of these ego led morons.

IW stole my sentence. Evil minds work alike. devil

I think the mare was very nice. The rider was not that bad as many are who produce horses for sale. You should see some Austrian clips. (www.obora.com)
He did not pull her head and the movement of the hand was more upwards/forwards to maybe help the tendency to release the tension/ not to let the mare to curl behind? (I watched it earlier but had time to reply just now,so cannot remember exactly.)

We have not sat on the horse so we dont know how unconfortable she is to sit on. As half of the members here has back problems, its very possible that this rider had also.As IW kindly suggested.

To tell you the truth,I read the replies first and was waiting to see something much much more worse. They are not classical riders and now-a-days five year olds need to compete already on high level to be sold with a reasonable money. They are propably just trying to make the hay bill.

But if you CANT sit, for whatever reason - should you? I dont think its actually fair to bob/bang around on a horse (especially a young one like that) if it looks s**te, its got to feel bloody awful hasnt it. What benefit could that possibly have for the horse?

I think the horse in question was four years old....I dont think a back of a four year old should ever be exposed to that. I remember the clip and It wasnt "effective" riding IMHO? (the hands followed the bounce and were all over the place. It wasnt controlled at all).

I agree we all need to sit a bounce in order to learn what not to do - but I dont think its a baby's place to educate a rider about that.

It was plain awful riding, Maria. I never find it necessary to bang on the back of any horse, and I think that those who have seen me ride at clinics when I get on most of the horses, regardless of what they are like, to see what the student is up against, would say that I ever ride anything other than quietly. As the horses seem to improve pretty well immediately, I would hope that I am not ineffective either!

If I were a horse, and someone was banging about on my back the way that guy was on the video clip, I would have bucked him off! I do not see in any way, that making life more difficult for the horse makes it improve in training. The easier it is for the horse to carry the rider, the more cooperative I find the horse.
