Thought the top video might help those of us who suffer from stiff, tight shoulders. There is a bit of introduction and preamble about the book but I think it is worth getting past that to at least trying the exercises suggested.  I've had a go and strangely enough my stirrups have come down a hole or two Shocked.

Mary Bond seems to have her own Zen like philosophy regarding posture in that it is a state of being and interacting with the world around you rather than a correct way to stand/sit/lift and carry etc. I found the whole website very enlightening, especially the Stiff Eyes article on the blog page.

Love it!  Can't wait to get on my horse the next time after doing this exercise and feeling a difference!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that link. Interesting to find out more and more muscles that we all have. I like the idea of carrying the shoulders from those side muscles below them and not pulling the shoulders up by the shoulders themselves.

I've always been fascinated by posture to do with riding. And especially when I was in a hotel lobby in San Francisco and was observing people's posture as they walked by. Not only is good posture nicer to look at and better for you, it changes the entire confidence level that someone exudes. It was remarkable how the people with good posture just made you feel good about them.  Smiley

Great, Heather!  I hope we will get more input and feedback from others.  This exercise certainly seems to help develop awareness of those muscles, and I was trying it on Comet the other day, and it did seem to help.  Of course, there are a lot of other body parts that I'm trying to stay aware of, all at the same time....!  rofl
