I am taking a little spanish mare on loan, and would like to restore a mane which is a bit rubbed out by neck rugs, and a bit dandruffy at the roots.  any tips?  what products would you use, and are there any rugs that cover the neck that suit chesty, cresty horses??

My luso rubbed his mane last year  Shocked  I now have him in a 'snuggy hood'  which is a neck cover and goes under the rug.  It works really well.

for very dry scaly skin, you might want to examine the mare's diet.  sometimes the addition of oils (flax, etc) can really help itchy dry skin.  not sure what products you have over there for 'topical' treatments?  i have found this stuff to be REALLY effective! http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=2fd984b6-f5ac-4323-a639-1d059477370f

how exciting for you!!!! a Spanish mare.....when do you get her?  how old is she?  please be sure to take photos to share with us wink (we are a nosey bunch, and LOVE Iberian eye candy wub).

she's here!!  I will look in to snuggy hoods for next winter - any rug tips?

Amorosa is settling in really well, such a star.  so interested in life, and confident.  I'm falling in love (which i shouldn't until the 3 month trial is over).

I came on here as I'd gathered from lurking that I'd find Iberian fans/owners!

re diet, I am changing her over to what our other 2 have - simple systems enduro-complete, it has linseed in so should possibly help?  also top spec feed balancer.  and have just stopped speedi-beet as the winter is over as far as I'm concerned.

not wanting to rain on your parade... but

This section is for asking questions you may have about membership - its benefits and how to join etc.  The obvious benefit, of course, being that you can post threads in the main sections of the site and get more input / conversation from our members, many of whom have Iberian horses.

So go on, come join  wink nod
