In answer to your question I have tried alsorts!! I have a long standing back problem and am currently wating to have steroid injections into my spine.

My experiences are that Chiro, Osteo and Physio all produced a nominal improvement but basically were too agressive and created a circle of inflammation and pain. (I'm lucky to have a good clinc who say if they think what they do isn't helping)

Sports massage was a bit better but no lasting improvement and boy was I bad after a treatment  ouch

Bowen is the only thing that helps really. I was very sceptical and still struggle with the fact that it can make everything hurt so much but ultimatly make it so much better. My practitioner can make me jump as there is the odd advanced move (and some basic!) that can be painfull when your as wonky as me! I have to have multiple treatments - takes 4 or 5 at increasing intervals but then I can be ok for upto 6 mths when dependng on how bad it is 1 or 2 sessions will get me back in the saddle. (My practitioner is also a rider so can gear it to that and treats my horse to help her cope with my wonkyness  nod)

Considering I did fortnightly or monthly visits to everyone else over a 5yr period with little longterm improvement I'm very glad I found Bowen.

The Bowen has helped with my ankles, and last time I went we concentrated on straightening me out (I grew an inch in height) and releasing the tightness in my pelvis/hips to both straighten them and open them up to help with riding. The only thing I would say though is that I am still not sorted after a few treatments and think this is because my therapist is too gentle with me! Horses for courses eh!

Interestingly 2 sessions was enough to help me - just as the therapist suggested - she said that the majority of the people she has treated have only needed one or two sessions to fix their issues unless they reinjure themselves - which is what I've done and I could feel the difference immediately.

I'd had regular massages beforehand because I had really sore shoulder muscles and nothing seemed to help - some seemed to make it worse actually.

I remember lying there getting the bowen treatment and thinking this is going to do nothing for me but couldn't believe the difference.

I think as everyone says it is pretty much horses for courses. There are so many different factors that it is hard to predict what is right for any one person. I am a trainee physio and one thing that i have learnt is the broad range of ideas and treatments in my own profession, let alone when you take into account the other types of therapy out there. For example, for a back problem, i can already think of about 5 different approaches i *could* take, and that would be appropriate, and i am not even fully trained!! So i think it is just about finding an approach that works for you, learning as much as you can about it and if something doesn't seem to be working for you perhaps try a different therapist

I am lucky to an extent, in that we do work on each other so i know a lot of the problems that i have, and how i *should* treat them  whistle and i do see an osteo as well. But a lot of my wonkiness and problems persist because i am simply too lazy to implement some of the changes that i need to to deal with the underlying niggly issues rolleyes

I suffer from a bad lower back for years and stress doesn't help much with mobility of my neck and shoulders. Also, after putting on 15 kg, and becoming a fat spud, I'm no longer supple.

I used to have a regular chiro treatment every month. I stopped on financial grounds and then, all of sudden I got worse.

I am currently having a weekly osteopathy treatment and it is helping me to feel so much better!  thumbs

I swear by my McTimoney chiro. If you're put off by the idea of chiropractic because of bone-cracking horror stories, McTimoney-Corley is really not like that at all  Cheesy
