Well after another few weeks of snow and ice I finally managed to get Rocky out for our 5th ride since he was robbed of the eye.

And ive got to say im impressed with the way he's coming along.
Looking at him no one would know he was only seeing out of one eye, he doesn't look any different.

We dont go far, just 40 mins and we only walk. We did try a trot, but he's not fussed. Im not that bothered because he was a lazy so and so out hacking before the accident, he's not doing anything any different now. laugh
I have noticed that he sort of 'looks' at different road surfaces, different colours of road surface and kerbs. But weve been passed by all sorts of huge mechanical beasts, he's been ok, today we even got overtaken by a scooter. thumbs

He's so funny, he's learned that when I move to one side in the saddle it might just mean im rooting in my pocket and he stops, he turns his head to the left and waits for me to pop a mint into his mouth  doh ok ok im sorry, I know im norty but its got to be done.

We tried a bit of leg yield on a quiet road, then some rein back and a bit of half pass. Im not asking for much, I just wanted to try something to see how much of the old boy remained.

Im hoping to go back to our training next week. Ive got to do it. The only bit that worries me is getting there.
We will have to pass through a lot of road works. He's been through it all before, I just hope its not all too much for him. If he's unhappy I can always get off and lead him through.

Ive been quite surprised at how many people have asked me '' what are you going to do with him now?''

A friend has just sent me a link to Croft top dressage....Thats what... rofl rofl rofl

i'm not surprised he is adjusting so well thumbs.  your training, and most importantly, your bond didn't disappear with the vision in that one eye wink hug
