Hello!

So I now have a wonderful well school share horse, a real been there and got the t-shirt several times over type but sadly his Auntie BH isn't as well versed in schooling as he is!

Up until recently I haven't really had a lesson for a long time, (now rectified as I'm having some brilliant lessons with KathyT) and whilst I can execute basic 'riding school' stuff, I would like a book that can show me some other things to do in the school with Kip to stop him getting bored. I've had a look in the reading list but they are all quite technical tomes for my limited understanding! Embarrassed

I already have the Enlightened Equitation book, which is well thumbed, but is there anything out there that can act as a "School movements for Dummies" guide. Someone has recommended "101 Schooling Exercises by Jaki Bell" and I must admit I like the diagrams in there as it helps to have a picture of what you should be doing in your head, but I wondered what other views on this are?

Any suggestions welcomed!

I'm reading 'Dressage with Kyra' by Kyra Kirklund at the moment - I like it a lot. There's some nice exercises in there combining different movements and good explanations and diagrams (I'm playing with one of the counter-canter ones to great effect with my stiff oldie at the moment).
PS I got my copy from the booksale that Diane Smith posted about.

I second "101 schooling exercises". I'm a schooling dummy and find it good for thinking of things to do in the school. There is plenty in there for novices.  Smiley

Cheesy Thank you so much for that link! What an amazing website, can't believe some of those prices! nod

I may have been so surprised by the prices that I accidentally bought

101 Schooling Exercises by Jaki Bell (thanks for the confirmation that it is worth getting)

~and~

101 Riding Exercises by Julian Marczak

The combined total was less than the price of the schooling book on amazon!

I have a feeling I will be returning to that website! Roll on payday whistle
