RIP Roger

Some of you may remember that we had taken on this lovely horse from his previous owner who had him at livery with us. We knew he was in a bad way but wanted to be sure that he was given his best chance or at least that he had peaceful loving care at the end. Today we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go
We had made some good progress but then he went down hill very quickly it appears that he had a breakdown of some sort in his nervous system, the vets really didn't know. Last Tuesday I had an AC come out to him as I was just too emotionally involved and wanted to be sure of how he felt about things. He said that in the last three months he had felt the happiest and most loved he had ever been
That he was fine at that point but that he wasn't fixable. He also said that when the time came he would need our permission to go as he felt it was his duty to to try as we were trying so hard
He said that duty was very important to him and that he was sorry that he had not been able to fulfill his duty to his previous owner.
Sorry cant write anymore at the moment . . .
Run free Roger we will always love and remember you. Your duty now is to run free and have fun at Rainbow Bridge until we are together again.

Oh no, poor Roger, I remember reading about him
At least he was safe, happy and cared for in his short time with you

Oh so sad, Roger looks so lovely.
You did the best you could for him, he was lucky to have the best of care in the end. RIP Roger.

Always hard to know what to say, apart from he will always be with you in spirit because of the kindness and care you gave him to the end.
Hugs to you for the hard times, but good on you for also releasing him to freedom to run in spirit with you forever.
