Introduction to the Classical Seat workshops

Hi All,
Provided I can get staff cover here, I am trying to work out a format to do workshops away from home again, as with the recession still biting, course bookings here, are frankly not covering my overheads. With travel and b and b costs on top of course fees, this is understandable, so I am aiming to try to do some workshops which will cover a lot of the stuff, ok, minus the simulators, but a lot can still be done even without them!
I plan on doing two day workshops for 8-10 riders. The first morning would feature a mounted lecture demo by me on a borrowed horse, and then a dismounted workshop for all 10 riders.
The afternoon would be two 1.5 hr groups of 4-5 riders.
Following day would be two one hour ( although knowing me, it would probably be longer!) groups of 4-5 riders in morning, and again in the afternoon. The emphasis would be entirely on developing the seat and applying refined aids.
Cost would be £200 pp but that would include my travel and accommodation too.
If anyone is interested in running a workshop, please pm me!!

Hi Heather
I will ask the ladies at Croft if you like as they have a simulator for you to use as well as an indoor with viewing gallery and school horses if needed. I'm awaiting a call from them later today so I can ask if you like.

Si,
Say hello to them for me- I know the two sisters there and yes, they have a Racewood simulator.
HH- need an indoor school, but doesnt have to be a posh one- just a roof over our heads to ensure that we can run the workshop!

Thanks to the three of you who have shown interest so far. Any other takers? I am so often asked to do clinics etc but when I actually offer them, few seem interested. Other clinicians often charge far more, and have people queuing up to go to them, but unless I work for fees which are not enough to actually cover my overheads here, (which I simply cannot do) I do not get the interest.
I am curious to know why this is? Do those of you who have had lessons with me, consider them to be inferior in quality and content? I prefer to be told, as I know better where I stand then!!

?? I am laughing, not at you, but at your ludicrous (sp?) comment!! I had, what, 10 maybe 15 mins of instruction from you, and it wasn't even a proper lesson and it was by far the best lesson I have ever had and afterwards I felt like I could take on the world!!! (Shame my eye had other ideas
)
I desperately need to improve my riding and to have lessons but I don't see the point in having lessons in riding schools up here at the moment because
they
are all inferior in quality and content in my mind and going against I think is actually right!
Ref, lack of interest, I don't think it is. I think it's lack of facilities perhaps on the most part. For instance where we are there is no indoor school or half decent facilities. Also this flippin' credit crunch is bitting everyone hard on the a**e at the moment!

Well Lisa already has her skates on for organising one up here, and I cannot wait!!!!!!! I'm always moaning about not being able to get away from home for long enough to get to Heather's so if there's a chance to get Heather up here instead, I will jump at the opportunity!!
Just a thought about why you get no replies Heather... I noticed this thread before it was stickied and PM'd you straight away, then afterwards took me awhile to find it again when it was "stickied"... Now it may be that I'm just particularly
and
, but I often fail to spot new sticky threads... just cause they don't come up that often, so my brain kinda starts ignoring the sticky ones on top. I know it makes no sense as it's kinda opposite from intended
but that's just what happens, I can't seem to help it and I wonder if some others may be the same? Maybe Andy could come up with a solution, say if there's a new/particularly important sticky thread like this one, make the highlight in a different colour so it really stands up???
As to facilities, for those of you who don't have them at your own yard, why not hire a venue somewhere close by? And share transport to get your neddies there?

Hi Heather,
The problem I find is actually knowing who may be interested. You seem to have pockets of followers in the South and the North (may be mistaken), but the West Midlands/North West borders seems to be a desert ie, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Shrops. I have 3 indoor venues near me, Alsager Equestrian centre, Reaseheath College and Southview. All Indoor with viewing galley etc. I would love to arrange for you to come, but the responsibility and time to arrange it, seems impossible due to my working pattern.
Is there anyone out there in my area that would be interested in Heather coming to do a clinic and helping to organise it. I would be over the moon if you could do one in my area, or one near enough for me to travel.
Hope this helps??
Kind regards
Heather

Hi Heather
I hoping there isn't a lack of interst. I'd be interested in attending one in the south east - I only have a small outdoor school, no facilities where I am - but will ask up the road where they have an ok-ish indoor school. But not sure they will hire out.

Providing can get spectators/ enough riders to spread the cost I am happy to arrange one at shuttleworth college (think that counts as south east)
