Hi,
I have just discovered this forum and wondered if anyone could offer some advice?
I have been thinking of getting a pessoa to lunge my boy in. His ridden work is going very well and i am hoping to affiliate him in May. I am currently expecting my second baby, so at Christmas will be having to stop riding for a few months, but i am keen to keep on with his training as much as possible from the ground. My instructorwill also be schooling him once a week for me. Does anyone use a pessoa? Have you found them to useful? I will be lunging two or three times a week during this time so any info on your experiences would be much appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to read this xxx :P

Hi , i have a pessoa and do use it for lunging , however its like most gadgets its fine in the right hands, the point of the pessoa is to encourage the horse to work over its back and use its self, and does work well , i tend to prefer it to side reins as it encourages the horse to work from behind but only if the person lunging sends the horse forwards but not out of its natural rythem and ballance, their are other things you can do from the ground how about long reining and loose schooling , be cautious how much lunging you do it can cause injurys if done too often for too long .

if i were you i would do about 15 min sessions on the lunge a couple of times a week and practice long reining , you can teach your horse a lot from the ground . Have fun .
