Hi, Dolly'sMum, NO Jersey cow is innocent- naughty/scheming/far too intelligent for their own good/devious/charmingly malevolent/etc etc but NEVER innocent. Mind you , having said all of that , i wouldnt have any other breed wub
Sandpiper, cows are fairly easy to keep, its just the  rant rant wallbash beaurocracy that goes with them these days. Not sure what it is like with sheep but it seems that cows only have to burp and the wrath of BCMS fall like a ton of lead from the heavens. I am in the middle of a failed calf passport application which is now at the stage of DNA testing which will cost me a lot of money/time/vets fees/stress, with no guarantee of a full passport at the end of the proceedings which will mean the animal can only stay on the farm or go direct to slaughter. As she is a prospective show cow this is not good. All because they say they didnt get the initial paperwork on time. I will lay odds that they did but just didnt bother to process it within the time scale so of course that is MY fault. Jersey cows are a pleasure and i must admit i cause great hilarity locally when i take mine for a walk  as she has learned to "coffee house" just like the horses and knows exactly where she will be fed sweeties laugh One of Hebe's talents is to  ride and lead with a cow on  the lead rein. Now that REALLY stops the traffic devil

I wish i had some but no-one ever seems to be around when it happens. I will try to remember to get OH organised . My old TB mare used to do it too- it comes in handy when the cows break out, and this is another thing jerseys do, when they break out they go off in as many different directions as possible. Black & Whites will rampage off together and all turn one way at each road junction or field gate.NOT jerseys  laugh My lot once got out  and split left and right at the field gate , then both groups split at their respective next junctions and on it went. The last escapee was found about a mile away enjoying the new pit of silage in a farmyard Embarrassed the others were found in garden/fields/river/garage. You need broad shoulders, gsh, and running shoes to own these little horrors. Maybe its because i used to do a lot of showing with my lot that they just became used to being towed about on the end of a lead rein and they were used to the horses on the yard, in fact as a youngster my bull used to graze with my suffolk punch boys and 2 mares without any problem at all.

Can well believe how machiavellian Jerseys are... Project in Pembroke I know of used Dexters to graze. The project managers had a landy parked to block the lane but foolishly left the doors open, so the Dexters simply climbed through the cab and out the other side! And then sniggered...

Great photos of your menagerie!!
