Hi, I have only just discovered EE after reading Heather's 'Kinder Way' pages on New Rider site. All of a sudden things started to fall into place! I tried some of it out on my next ride, and - even if only for a few strides - I felt that my seat was still and my upper body was still. I think my middle was gyrating around alarmingly - so I know I havn't cracked it yet. I have ordered Heather's video and can't wait for it to arrive. I have an instructor who tells me to 'drive with my seat' , which I knew was wrong - but at least now I know WHY it is wrong and can challenge him. Would love to here about other people's experiences.

Hi, Blue.  I read EE a while back and though it was great but I was such a beginner that it didn't really 'click'.  Then I've just read it again and it's like enlightenment.  I've just watched a video of me riding and I'm so appalled by my fidgety tense hands.  That's my challenge.  And keeping my lower leg back.  Oh, and the rest...!

HI Blue and Judith, and welcome to EE!! Hope you find the video helpful. I hope to make part two before too much longer.

Regarding your lower back wobble, Blue, the pelvis needs to stay very controlled. If your stomach muscles are not as good as they could be, try wearing a back support s the wrong way around!! I intend to design a specific belt to retrain riders to support the middle section of the torso, which will of course be for sale on our online shop once it is up and running!

Hiya to the new converts from me too - for the uninitiated, I'm Heather's business partner in EE, and one of the few people she gets to heap unlimited abuse on in the indoor school, making me feel about an inch high (sorry Heather....!) How would you feel if you were riding your wonderful Andalucian (Beato) and having an off day - and Heather jumped on and made him do everything but Piaffe....!  Grrrrr..  Anyway - a big welcome, and please feel free to ask anything you like in the forums - they are here to help you learn and achieve what you want to with your horses.  Believe me, it's not rocket science - I've never considered myself a rider, and in the year that I've known Heather, I've achieved a lifetime dream to be able to work with and ride a horse totally in harmony.  It takes practise, but its so gentle...

All the best!

Hi again

thanks for the good advise Heather, I will look out for your new product, and in the mean time start some ab crunches to firm up those tummy muscles....how did you guess!!!

Good luck with those tense hands Judith! I havn't been brave enough yet to have a lesson videod.... I know I would be horrified! I started riding again last year after a long break. I am 49 and so want to get things right this time....it's now or never!! Just beginning to get a little confidence and taking things very slowly.

Pete, you are so lucky! I will be following your & Beato's diary with interest.
