As requested by Heather, I'm copying the link to my post in Horse Training on the clicker and my sister's young pony cob Nemo.   Maybe I should have put it in here in the first place, I'm never quite sure where to post things.

Thanks Becky.     It has truly had an astounding effect on Nemo - in the space of 2 weeks, his behaviour has stabilized and yesterday when my sister rode him in the school, he didn't do ANY of the "no I can't go on this rein and am going to go THAT way instead, even in canter!"  Cheesy    Last week my niece had three whole circles in trot on his "bad" rein, with me standing in the middle and clicking the good bits - this was with two other horses in the school - he would normally be off straight away charging down to the others to avoid doing the circle.      We had a bit of that with my niece, but no where near as consistently or badly as before and we just ignored it, she stopped him much easier than before, turned him and brought him back and we started again and he settled back down and did as asked - previously once he got into this mode, it was virtually impossible for my niece to get him out of it.

Plus my niece hacked him out with me this week up onto the downs and into a field of sheep and he was an angel, even when trotting in a big wide open space full of sheep!  angel_not

Still lots to work on, but the clicker has most definitely got him onside and listening.  Smiley

It's no good - I still find the name Nemo in a thread title disconcerting! laugh

The name Nemo is obviously an indicator of intelligence! Smiley

Glad that it is going so well with him
