Following the latest arrival at the Donkey Shelter, a big, hansome fellow  wub, as a fund raising idea, we decided to launch a "Name the Donkey Competition".

Each person taking part in the competition will be entitled to suggest a name for this donkey, for a nominal £2 minimum fee per entry. More than one entry per person are welcome.
Prize for the winning name will be a free Donkey Adoption Pack, to winner's choice.

Entries must be paid into the Shelter's PayPal account, as follows:
burricadas@sapo.pt

All names will listed by Monday 31st March and the winning name will be drawn by an imparcial person.
If nobody objects, I would suggest that Anna, Lusitanolou's little girl, would take on that role, as she an enthusiastic supporter of our donkeys!

Just as a refresher, here is a brief descrption of this donkey, and a few photos.
"I am a fun, inquisitive donkey, who above all loves life and finds humans fascinating creatures.  blink
My life hasn't been much different from many donkeys, who grew up in this harsh country  :(... I used to accompany my owner in his rural chores, and my role was to pull the cart filled with heavy loads.
My carers were never gentle to me, but such is not within human nature...
My owner was very old and one day he was taken ill into hospital. His son-in-law saw me as a nuissance, and I was left many days with no water or feed and my skin was very itchy and got worse and worse. dry
Then they were talking to send me to the lions...  Shocked Fortunately, the grandson recalled reading about some Shelter for unwanted donkeys... I prayed those strangers would come and take me instead... as I still enjoy life! And one night, they did! I was loaded into a funny box, and because I was weak, as I stepped out, I fell down and they thought for minutes that I'd broken my neck! Shocked
Well, I'm now at a dirty, smelly farmhouse, in a "quaranteene" shed, but I'm fed regulary, taken out in hand to graze and there is a couple of  alien humans that come to see me and they say "I'm HANSOME!"  hug
All I need now is a name.. I hate having been called 'Donkey' all my life... and a little help for me and my friends too...   notworthy
So, WHAT?S MY NAME???

'Harry the Heavenly Horse'

« Reply #5 on: March 24, 2008, 06:52:00 PM »

Maria, do we post here?

If so, my names would be 'Lupin' after my beloved cocker spaniel I lost just before I got Harry...let's add Harry too; 'Ted' and 'Tom' after two of my also beloved but departed cats. Does it matter they are very English as opposed to Portuguese?  Cheesy

So:
Lupin
Ted
Tom
Harry

 Cheesy

I will paypal you now  hug hug

Maggie,

some of the names could be translated. THose that canno, it doesn't matter. The important thing is to use this exercise to pick a name for this donkey, raising some extra pennies for his keep too.

Hi Mosie, you just go to the Paypal UK site, register with them which entails associating a credit card with your account and then use the email address above to send what money you want  Smiley.
