Although the surrounding get you down, and they do sound less than ideal, for the donks it must be heaven.  Food, freedom from molestation of any sort and a kind lady who brings them love all the time  hug

wouldn't it be great to get a load of folk to do a 2 day make over!......maybe a UK TV company would be interested in doing something like that?

In all seriousness, d'you think we could organise this?

If we can try and raise some funds to put towards cheap flights...Maria could you put them up over a weekend?

It would be fabbie publicity for the professionals willing to help, and I'm sure they could take a half a day or a day to chill out at Maria's yard wink We could get some of the UK horsey mags to publicise.  The BHS mag seem to be on the right track, could anyone get an article or letter in there?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm amazed at the ideas flowing......  ohmy

but.....

we would have to think and plan all this carefully...
The facilities where the animals are, don't belong to us and the atmosphere is currently VERY volatile, although it's nothing to do with us (major family upsets between the farmer, the owner, and his son).
So, I don't think the farmer or his son would see in a good light a troup of people coming along and cleaning this and changing the conditions in their premises...

What you could do, is to organise a group of professionals, coming to do feet, teeth, health checks, maybe cleaning the manure off the stable and perhaps a company of herbal diet supplements would be kind enough to sponsour us, providing diet supplements and balance feeders.
We desperatly need stuff for respiratory problems (old donkeys are very prone to pneumonia), joints and artritical conditions (old donkeys), vitamins and calcium (for both colts in growth and old donkeys in recovery)... We have a couple of old donkeys with weight drop.

So, where could we go from here???  Undecided

OK, so maybe publicity isn't the best route to go.  But perhaps the professionals can use pictures from their visit for their own sites, rather than have a magazine see the less-than-ideal conditions you find yourselves in temporarily.  I am forever hoping that this will change soon.  I dunno how, but it helps to think happy thoughts.

I wish I could help.  I mean, I can easily scrub poo off of stable walls but that's all!  If this gets off the ground, I'm happy to pay my own way to come over and help with the 'donkey' work (haha!).  In fact, I'd do that anyway.

Work out what amounts and types of supps you'd need, whether they'd be required in the short term or long term, which gives up a place to start.  No point in asking people for donations if you don't know how much you need!

Would any of the professionals on EE be willing to help, or any EE members know of a specialist they use who'd be up for a jaunt?

Danni,

Thank You  hug for all your support and good wishes. I agree, happy thoughts help. Right now we need to find alternative facilities, as the atmosphere at the farmhouse is on breaking point... Undecided

As for the supplement, tubs of the stuff I referred, as well as dewormers, would always be needed...
