I have been playing with the clicker to teach little things lately and we have been having loads of fun!!

Both have learned to say 'no' much to the yard member's amusement, and they also both offer kisses  wub  Loly has learned to pick up 'his' flannel and I'm just trying to build it up so he'll hold it (he will walk over to it on the ground and pick it up just not holding it for long...).

Next they are learning to smile and say yes  Cheesy

Its so much fun being able to play with them this way.  I had such a compliment from YO - she said I was really lucky having horses that think and that you can see the cogs going round!!  I said I thought it had a lot to do with the clicker!!

Mind you, if my mare decides its clicker time, she'll offer all kinds of things when I go to see her in the field - SW, head down, shake head and spin to name but a few.  Shes a little madam!!!

Sounds like you are having fun!

Your YO is right to notice the cogs going round! Clicker training certainly develops their mind to "think" about rather than guess what we want.

Click nothing but stand quiet when they show off their repertoire of tricks, some times they need help to stop thinking and wait till they are asked!! rolleyes laugh Shows they are eager though!

I have put a couple of tips to help with the "hold" on "ask Becky" forum.

Thanks Becky - I assumed I should ignore the unwanted behaviours.  Today she decided to keep offering SW when I was asking her for SI in-hand.....because she had an audience  wub  I just ignore her and say, no, not that thank you!

She's such a character!!
