No Bull fighting in this clip but stil as inspirational I hope?   Smiley

well, not quite as awe-inspiring as the *real thing* --- but 'Merlin' would be spectacular no matter what he was doing!

i'll just put a link to my thread here instead of a direct link to the clip  winkhttp://www.enlightenedequitation.com/ee/boards/index.php?topic=25692.0
(sorry, but it really is one of my very favorite video clips of all time!)

The bullfighting clip is my favourite clip too - though I can't condone BF no matter what. But still, Merlin is a true Warhorse - the riding is raw, it's real and it is exactly what I imagine true battlefield combat would have been like.

I like the link you put up for Marion Loew - they are very nice to watch.

She trains with Phillip Hess - is that any relation to Christoph Hess do you know Heather?

Hi Vicky and Heather,

Philipp is indeed family to Christoph Hess, have a look at this site

http://www.hofbettenrode.de/englisch/main.htm, choose 'about us' and then 'family'.

They don't say what the family relation is exactly, but looking at the ages of Philipp and Christoph, I'd say they're father and son... what do you think?

Have read a bit further on the site and in Philipp's biography it states loud and clear "...my parents Christoph and Ilse Hess...".

Aha!  wink

Interesting Claudia!!

Pferdetv have just sent me the DVD of PK and Christoph. Watched a little of it last night on my laptop before going to sleep,  but it is the German version. The English wont be out until 1 April, but as I can hear a lot of the conversation in the background, I can get the gist of it.

Let you know what I think, but watching PK on that bay stallion, he is not happy about it leaning on the bit!!

Not sure what you all will think of this - it's a vid that this person put together when he was selling his Andalusian stallion and had some movie types interested. Stallion ended up being bought by a woman who's parapelegic - and she apparently loves him to death. He's the guy I bought my retired mare from...has a bond w/ his horses and does a little bit of everything with them. Very big into getting them pretty 'bombproof'....

The garrocha in the vid is just 'ok' - but they were just starting garrocha at that point. There's also some riding in 'no tack'...and if you can get to the middle of the vid - there's a clip where he is riding with both he and the horse totally covered up with a tarp that is being held up w/ a garrocha pole. Has the horse lie down, moves the tarp a little, and then gets back up and backs away from under the tarp   Shocked

Yep, thats Juan Diego Garcia Trevilano. All the more astonishing when you learn that Marduk, a Danish warmblood, was 25 years old when that was taken! I am invited to go to see him work, and will do so once I get some time!

Don't know if this one has been posted already.

eta: It's not just the what, but also the where.  Can you imagine being booked for a demo only to turn up there?  I think most horses would stay on the lorry.  Spot the dog.  :laugh1:

OMG!! Shocked Was there even one person actually watching? !!!! Poor girl, demoralising in the extreme!! Lovely rider too- very nice work indeed- passage was only not so good bit with her wriggling a lot from side to side, but other than that, lovely to watch, at least, we can appreciate it!! Thanks for posting, Sue! Smiley
