well im a quater of a way threw the first racinet explains baucher and all i can say is its just Brilliant!

one thing im getting little confused about is the lifting of the head totally understand why but kind of not really on how to any advice Heather or anyone who has read it? maybe im just not far enough in the book yet! Chapter 9.have also got his two other book so maybe it might explain it a bit more there but im guessing im just a bit to dump to understand its prob got it in plain boild letters and ive just read over it!

and also got phillipe karls dvds and have watch a tiny bit of dvd 1 was watching the bit were he gets the horse to bring head up in a simular way to baucher book was woundering if this is the way baucher is decribing doing it on the floor! he makes the horse really chew/play/except/relaxe the bit in his mouth then gets him to flex his head to left and right then up but all the time having a relaxed jaw is this the way the book is telling you to do it?

im just getting a bit confussed as its like the books telling you to kind of pull his head up then try to get him to relaxe in jaw! only bit im a bit confussed about apart from that i cant put it down!

everyone in the house is like what the hell are you reading santa_cheesy

Hi Kelly,

The flexions of the jaw in hand, really need to be taught to you by someone really experienced in using them. I tend not to use them, as they seem to be the cause of the horse champing the bit a lot, something that is frowned upon in dressage today.

I believe absolutely in the relaxation of the jaw, but have always found it perfectly easy to achieve this with just the pelham/curb bit, and 'asking' with the fingers as I describe in my book, and in the article in the archives here on the website.

The lifting of the head, I only find necessary too, if the horse has been trained to go overbent, as happened with my all of my Iberian horses before they came to me. PK seems to do it as part of his training of all horses, but I find that the counted walk is sufficient to raise the head to the right position, with horses which have not been worked too deep.

Hope this helps a bit!!

oh i wouldnt try anything like that to be completly honest amber relaxes in her jaw the way you have said to do it so im very happy with using thatway. was just trying to sum up exsactly what he means thats all.

and with the head rising just wasnt sure if he was actually saying pull/lift horses head up as it seems a bit (well havent got the words to explain to be honest) santa_cheesy

would he of actually rode with his hands high all the time? to keep head up so haunches are under/balanced!

and would fix the hands until horse relaxes jaw is that right?

just really want to understand it properly santa_smiley
