I'm a fussy b****r and I want my own saddle for riding Fichaje, even though he has a very good saddle already!!

But ideally I need a smaller seat, and I like the idea of it being set up for me, wouldn't need stirrups adjusting, seat saver on and off, blah blah. I've been looking forward to trying my 17" HM Easisit which has been re-flocked and widened (by the Saddle Company) to fit Fichaje, but unfortunately it's far too high off his back at the cantle, and would be like a rocker on him. So that's no good and I don't think the shape could be altered enough to make it fit him.

So wondering if anyone has any ideas for a table top backed horse?! I know a Fhoenix would probably fit well, but would also like some suggestions for other saddles. I want one with set back stirrup bars, and I hoped to dispense with my seat saver (hence going for a Heather saddle), but I would be willing to keep it if necessary.

I don't have loads of money to spend.

Wondering about a St. Merryn? Or a Humphries/Swain? Anyone any experience with these on a wide, flat back? Are they flatter in the panels than the Easisit?

Other ideas? Bearing in mind he is in deepest Cornwall, so saddle fitters for things like WOW are non-existent!!

I know it's not a real horse but.....

the St Merryn sits on the very wide and flat simulator beautifully! and its the most comfortable treed saddle I've ever sat on.

worth a shot?

I've got a half panel Humphries and Swain Holistic Tree saddle that fits very well on a broad table topped horse it's got a low cantel and is very comfortable.  We primarily use our SBS's on the wide ones although my mum prefers the H&S.

I liked the St Merryn when I sat on it on the simulator as well.
